2008 Blaster Building Contest Entry #1
This was my initial entry for the contest. I was actually the first person to post an entry and it stayed that way for a few weeks. In the end this entry didn't get any votes due to how the votes were collected.
I started with a Laser Challenge lasertag gun I got at a thrift store for $1. I started by taking it apart, removing the electronics and collecting what parts I think would work.
I wanted to add some lights so I installed some LEDs up the back in a power meter configuration and wired them up to the original battery compartment. I also installed a 10mm blue ultrabright in the barrel and connected it to the trigger.
The barrel was part of a pop-up sprinkler head, the scope was parts from the sprinkler head, a Games Workshop paint pot and bits from the base gun with a bit of styrene.
Painting was a lot of masking and spraypainting. Once all the base colors were applied I went back with some toner dust to dirty it up a bit.
