TGIMBOEJ Box Code: Gray-I
For those that don't know, The Great Internet Migratory Box of Electronic Junk (TGIMBOEJ) was a project launched in the summer of 2008 by Evil Mad Scientist Labs as an attempt to create a physical internet meme (and as a way to get rid of stuff that was utterly useless but too cool to throw out). After putting my name on the Box Requests page of the Wiki and waiting about 8 months I finally received an offer for a box. After a two day transit from Tennessee to Pennsylvania the box coded Gray-I arrived and I got to dig around. The fun thing with the boxes is you never know what you're going to get. While much of what was in the box was totally useless (to me at least) I did find a few interesting items.
The mini stereo has removable speakers that are attached by minijacks to the body instead of being permanently wired in. The PC card and the other circuit board have a number of interesting parts I'm looking forward to harvesting like all the board pins and the pushbuttons. There were a few other items I thought about taking (a mini black-light and a couple old pagers) but as I have no immediate use for them I decided to pass them along. I mostly took the PC power supply to make room in the box. When it showed up it was a USPS Large flat rate box and it was absolutely packed. I've got tons of stuff I know I'm never going to use so I wanted to take the opportunity to unload some of it. As to what I put in I'll only say it was mostly components rescued from busted home electronics. ;-)
