Techno Junk Flower
I've been collecting techno-junk for a long time, old hard drives, printers, stereos, etc. Suffice it to say I've got a fair stock of random tech parts sitting around in boxes. So when I saw this article on Make Magazine's site I had to try making one. The flower head was made from write heads out of laptop hard drives, floppy disk centers and a piece of a dot matrix printhead. The stem is 20 gauge copper wire wrapped around a 3/16th threaded rod. The leaves were cut from the hard drive control boards. The base is a hard drive disk platter. I used a combination of hot glue and krazy glue to put it together, though it's a little unstable. In the future I'll probably use some 2 part epoxy.
